On Friday, Ukraine experienced a widespread series of Russian air strikes, impacting locations such as a commercial center, educational institution, and residential areas, as reported by local news sources.

Ukraine’s air defense forces identified the use of both cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles in the attack that occurred during the night. Notable cities like Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Dnipro, and Kharkiv witnessed explosions. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky stated that approximately 110 missiles were launched by Russia in this overnight operation.

“The latest assault by Russia on Ukraine occurred in the early hours, targeting people in their homes or on their way to work. The attack involved a wide range of military equipment, including missiles, drones, and about 18 strategic bombers,” stated Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry on platform X, previously recognized as Twitter. There has been no immediate response from the Russian government regarding this incident. Throughout the conflict, initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in February 2022, the Russian military has frequently utilized Shahed drones, also referred to as kamikaze or suicide drones.

“A heinous attack by aggressors, our cities are under rocket fire once more, an assault on the civilian population,” reported the office of Zelensky, as broadcasted by Ukraine’s 24 Kanal.

Reports from local news agencies indicate that the strikes resulted in numerous fatalities and a significant number of injuries throughout Ukraine.

According to Serhiy Popko, who oversees Kyiv’s military administration, the capital faced a barrage of various types of missiles. He mentioned that these missiles approached Kyiv in successive waves from multiple directions, leading to widespread damage and loss of life.

There have been reports of fires throughout Kyiv, presumably caused by debris from the strikes.

Videos shared on social media allegedly capture the moment a Russian missile impacted a residential building in Kyiv and footage of a commercial center engulfed in flames.
